Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce Releases Commercial & Industrial Space Needs Assessment

The Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the release of the Commercial & Industrial Space Needs Assessment, a new report that provides valuable insight into the current and future space requirements of local businesses and highlights opportunities to support sustainable economic growth in Revelstoke.

The assessment captures feedback from businesses regarding their commercial and industrial space needs, infrastructure requirements, operational challenges, and future growth plans. The report is intended to inform land use planning, private sector investment, and economic development strategies aimed at ensuring local businesses have the space they need to start, operate, and expand in Revelstoke.

The study builds on findings identified through the 2026 Business Retention & Expansion initiatives, where access to suitable commercial and industrial space emerged as a significant challenge for many businesses. The new assessment provides a clearer understanding of demand across a range of sectors and offers evidence-based recommendations to help address current shortages and support future development.

"Access to appropriate commercial and industrial space is essential to business growth and diversification" said Caroline Lachapelle, CEO of the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce. "This assessment gives us a better understanding of what businesses need today and what they will require in the future. By sharing this information with developers, and the City, we can work together to create solutions that support local businesses' ability to scale up and stay competitive in our community."

Key themes explored in the assessment include:

  • Demand for commercial and industrial space across multiple sectors
  • Infrastructure and servicing requirements
  • Location and zoning preferences
  • Challenges businesses face in securing suitable space
  • Future expansion and growth opportunities
  • Considerations related to workforce housing and accessibility

The Chamber encourages developers, property owners, investors, government agencies, and community stakeholders to review the report and consider how its findings can help guide future development and investment decisions.

This report was created with the support and feedback for the City of Revelstoke's development services department and members of the Chamber's board of directors. We thank them for their participation.
