Business Taxes - A letter to the City of Revelstoke
The Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce has been actively advocating on behalf of local businesses regarding 2025 property taxes, ensuring that the business community’s voice is heard in municipal decision-making.
Over the past 18 months, we’ve taken a deep dive into this issue—holding meetings with the City’s finance department, discussing assessments with BC Assessment, engaging with our business community, and comparing tax trends with similar municipalities. Our goal? To ensure a balanced approach that supports long-term economic sustainability while keeping Revelstoke a competitive place to do business.
This month, we formally presented our key requests to the Mayor and City Council, supported by data on historical tax trends and economic impacts across different tax classes. As part of this advocacy, we will also be attending the Finance Committee meeting on March 5, 2025, to continue the conversation and reinforce the importance of business-friendly policies that contribute to a strong local economy.
We know that property taxes impact every business, and we remain committed to advocating for fair, sustainable taxation that supports growth, investment, and workforce retention.
If you have thoughts or concerns on this issue, we’d love to hear from you—your feedback strengthens our advocacy.
