About
The Kootenay Carshare Cooperative (KCC) is a not-for-profit association legally incorporated to promote carsharing as an environmentally responsible transportation solution. KCC enables individuals and businesses to reduce vehicle ownership, lower emissions, and support sustainable community mobility. With over 550 members sharing 20 vehicles across Nelson (15), Revelstoke (3), and Kaslo (2), KCC also supports community-led electric vehicle sharing in Golden and Kimberley. Since 2023, over 25% of our fleet is zero-emission vehicles (ZEV), reflecting our strong commitment to climate action. Through cooperative values and regional partnerships, KCC advances practical, shared mobility that reduces ecological impact while enhancing access and affordability in rural British Columbia.
The Kootenay Carshare Cooperative (formerly the Nelson Carshare Cooperative) is a not-for-profit association legally incorporated to foster carsharing as an environmentally responsible transportation option. The Kootenay Carshare Co-op began in 2001 when a group of friends decided they no longer all needed their own vehicles and decided to share! Following the lead of Modo (formerly Cooperative Auto Network in Vancouver) the Kootenay Carshare Co-op was formed.
