Mechanical Design Engineer – Senior Level

Intronic Ltd. is seeking a talented and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in mechatronics and/or robotics to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop, test and commission robotic and automated manufacturing systems. You'll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-performance solutions that integrate mechanics, electronics, software, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

o Design and develop mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
o Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing, including assemblies and part drawings.
o Perform design calculations and analyses to ensure the integrity and functionality of mechanical components.
o Tracking and management of project time, costs, materials, and inventory.
o Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate mechanical designs into comprehensive automation solutions.
o Design pneumatic and hydraulic schematics for automation systems.
o Validate drawings for tolerancing, GD&T practices, and standardizations, such as ISO and ANSI.
o Support the team during the Field Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) project phases by providing manual and documentation and verify the mechanical installation.
o Prepare documentation: schematics, models, control flow diagrams, and operation manuals.
o Communicate and collaborate with machine shops and distributors that build and supply Intronic. This involves managing quotes, purchase orders, bills of materials, and holding suppliers accountable for timelines.
o Support the sales team with cost analysis and case studies.


Technical Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, equivalent experience
o Proven experience in machine design, development, and implementation. Bonus points if the experience involved mechatronics or electrical integration.
o Strong, multi-year experience with all stages of SolidWorks CAD, including: prototyping, part modelling, assembly modelling, analysis (structural, thermal, etc.), iteration.
o Proficiency in designing and working with automation hardware, such as sensors, actuators, linear systems, servo motors and AC motors.

o Creative, curious, problem-solving mindset with demonstrated experience working collaboratively to incorporate diverse perspectives and conflicting criteria.
o Willingness to learn, to test ideas and concepts, and to consider new ways and methods.
o Possess a high-level understanding of business fundamentals (revenue, costs, sales, etc.) to underpin design work decision making.
o Demonstrated ability to self-direct project organization and time management.
o Proactive communicator with the ability to interact with executives just as easily as with junior level technical staff.
o Experience supervising and supporting the work of others while owning the responsibility.
o Effective bi-directional communication skills based on active listening and patience.  

Additional skills and experience:

o Familiarity with robotic 3D cell design software like Stäubli Robotic Suite, Kuka Sim or RobotDK.
o Experience with PLC integration.

Location: Revelstoke, BC in an office adjacent to a light industrial workshop

Travel: Occasional travel within North America may be required (less than 1 week per quarter)

Schedule: 30-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
