Job description
This role will begin with hands-on training under the current Outdoor Supervisor to develop the skills required to oversee maintenance and shop operations at the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club. The goal is for the successful hire to return next season as the Outdoor Coordinator, based on performance and ability.
Important Details:
- Contract Duration: March to mid-May 2025 (dependent on snow conditions).
- Work Location: Reports to the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club Welcome Centre for 40 hours per week.
- Future Progression: The successful hire will be invited back in Fall 2025 to assume the Outdoor Coordinator role (from September until mid-May) on an annual season basis.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Shop & Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure supplies and equipment are stocked, including lubricants, hardware, and spare parts.
- Work with suppliers (lubrication, fuel, etc.) to coordinate deliveries.
- Maintain service records for all mechanical equipment.
- Perform routine servicing and end-of-season maintenance on grooming and other equipment.
- Identify and order spare parts as needed.
- Coordinate with contractors (mechanics, welders, fuel delivery, snow removal, etc.) for specialized repairs.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical issues as required.
Breakdown Response & Emergency Support:
- Respond to remote breakdowns, retrieving stranded vehicles or equipment (pickup trucks, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, generators, chainsaws, etc.).
General Outdoor Work:
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment/shop, ensuring tools are accounted for.
- Support trail maintenance, including brushing, log removal, and snow removal as needed.
Standby and Callout Duties:
- Available for callouts 3 nights per week (additional callout pay provided).
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist in additional tasks as reasonably required
Required Skills and Comptencies:
- Basic mechanical skills with a willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational abilities and team collaboration skills.
- Basic computer skills (maintenance records, research, ordering parts, etc.).
- Proficiency in safely operating snowmobiles, vehicles, and ATVs independently.
- Basic machine maintenance and operation experience (willing to assist mechanics).
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces and lifting/moving 50 lbs independently.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning new tasks.
- Bondable.
Preferred Qualifications (Assets, but not required):
- OFA Level 1 First Aid (or equivalent training).
- Chainsaw operation experience.
- Snowmobile operation experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Required to provide a driver’s abstract).
