SHA Geophysics Inc. is a global leader in airborne geophysical surveys. SHA’s clients are mineral exploration companies looking to discover new and develop existing economic mineral deposits. Using a range of proprietary airborne survey platforms, SHA uses proprietary airborne survey technology to help clients map geophysical targets and advance their exploration programs. SHA operates around the world in the field and out of offices in Toronto and beautiful Revelstoke, BC. SHA is experiencing a large growth year in 2026 and is looking to increase survey capacity.

SHA is seeking to immediately hire an Airborne Geophysical Survey Technician to support ongoing survey operations from now through mid-August. This is a unique opportunity to travel from your home in Revelstoke to remote and spectacular locations, develop specialized technical skills, and work alongside experienced professionals in the airborne geophysics industry. 

As an Airborne Geophysical Survey Technician, you will operate and maintain airborne geophysical survey equipment, work closely with aviation crews, liaison with SHA's clients and contribute to successful surveys. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced geophysical technology while providing valuable exposure to aviation operations.

Technicians are responsible for the daily inspection and maintenance of airborne geophysical equipment including sensor diagnostics, troubleshooting and the carrying out replacements as required. Working alongside SHA's Canadian operations team and the pilot, Technicians assist with daily flight planning and help ensure safe and productive survey operations.

Successful Technicians develop a diverse and highly transferable skill set, including:

  • Operation of GIS hardware and software.
  • Airborne geophysical equipment operation.
  • Equipment diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting and field repairs.
  • Flight logistics and operational coordination.
  • Teamwork in remote field environments.

Airborne survey operations are highly dependent on weather conditions. Technicians should expect to work extended hours during periods of favourable weather with opportunities to work at a slower pace when weather conditions prevent survey operations.

SHA is looking to fill this position immediately and will provide comprehensive training for the right candidate. The current survey is expected to continue until approximately mid-August. Successful applicants must be available to deploy immediately upon hiring and remain with the project through its completion.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, diagnose and maintain airborne geophysical survey equipment in the field.
  • Perform quality control and insurance (QC/QA) checks on airborne survey data using GIS software (training and software provided).
  • Upload survey data to SHA's head office via Google Drive following each flight.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of survey operations, equipment status, and field activities.
  • Coordinate daily flight operations between SHA's operations team and the helicopter pilot.
  • Coordinate fuel deliveries with fuel suppliers, the helicopter pilot, and the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).
  • Liaise with local service providers and suppliers to support daily field operations.
  • Liaise with SHA client's on occasion.
  • Transport flight crew to and from the airport, accommodations, and operational locations as required.
  • Fuel, inspect, and maintain the assigned rental vehicle.
  • Travel to and work from remote project locations for extended periods.

Skills & Abilities

  • Basic proficiency with GIS software; experience using QGIS, ArcGIS, or Seequent Oasis Montaj an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot field equipment.
  • Basic understanding of GPS navigation equipment, and electronic data collection hardware.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and data communications cabling (Serial/RS232, Ethernet).
  • Comfortable operating common hand-held tools and small power tools.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a small field team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb (23 kg).
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel and remain at remote a project site for the remaining duration of a survey.

Experience

The following experience is considered an asset, but is not required:

  • Working and living in remote locations. 
  • Experience supporting aviation operations.
  • Exposure to airborne geophysical surveying.

Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel domestically and internationally. Having a valid US passport is definitely an asset.
  • Valid Canadian driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Able to work as an independent contractor under a GST number.
  • High school diploma. Relevant post secondary education an asset. 

Compensation

  • $250 - $500 /day based on availability & experience. Travel expenses & daily per diem provided.
