The Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society is looking for passionate individuals to help launch a new idea! This winter we are going to have a Trail Host Station at the junction of the trails in the flats. We need outgoing volunteers that enjoy our winter trails to make this a fun addition to the Revelstoke community.

About Us

The Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society (IGS) works to preserve the natural riparian zone along the Illecillewaet River, encompassing woodlands and meadows. We balance conservation with accessibility, providing year-round recreational opportunities.

Key Goals:

  • Maintain natural habitat for wildlife within city limits.
  • Conserve natural resources.
  • Promote responsible and sustainable use of the area.

We achieve this through multi-use trails, winter track setting, invasive species removal, habitat restoration, and conservation projects in collaboration with local organizations.

Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic Winter Trail Hosts to volunteer at our new Winter Trail Host station. Volunteers will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable trail experience while supporting the society’s conservation goals. We hope to have volunteers at the station for 2-4 hours on weekends, with the possibility of evening shifts for special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist trail users, providing information about the trails and the Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all visitors by maintaining an inviting station and supporting the Winter Trail Host station's upkeep.
  • Gather feedback from trail users to help improve the experience
  • Gather data on trail users to inform future improvements.
  • Support special events at the Trail Station.
  • Work with the Trail Host Station Coordinator to Design enhancements, such as a warming tent or fire, to improve user experience.

  • Outgoing and welcoming personality with a passion for engaging with people.
  • Interest in outdoor recreation, conservation, or community service.
  • Reliability and a collaborative spirit.
  • No specific experience is required—just a willingness to help and learn!
