Volunteers Needed | National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026

On Wednesday, September 30, the Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke T&R Committee will once again host our community's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event. We are looking for volunteers to help create a welcoming and respectful space for everyone attending.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• 11:45 AM to 1:30 PM – Centennial Park set up, tent and table assembly, accepting potluck items, and assisting the Neighbourhood Kitchen. One volunteer will remain at the park until the walk arrives (this role will miss the walk). Other volunteers can head to RCU to participate in the walk.

• 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM – Set up road barriers along the walk route, then head to RCU to prepare for the walk.

• 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM – Pack up tables and clean up at RCU, then transport tables to Centennial Park (this role will miss the walk).

• 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM – Tail the walk, removing road barriers and placing them safely at the side of the road as the procession passes.

• 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM – Tear down tents and tables and help clean up Centennial Park following the event.

Whether you can give an hour or stay for multiple shifts, your support helps make this important day of reflection, learning, and community possible.
