The Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society (IGS) is seeking a new Treasurer to join our volunteer board. We’re a local charity dedicated to maintaining and protecting the beautiful trails and natural spaces along the Illecillewaet River — and we’re looking for someone organized, reliable, and community-minded to help keep our finances on track.

About the Role

The Treasurer plays an important oversight role in managing IGS’s financial health.
The bookkeeping itself is handled by a professional accounting firm, so this is a light administrative position — perfect for someone who wants to contribute meaningfully without a heavy time commitment.

Key Responsibilities
    •    Review monthly financial statements provided by our accounting firm.
    •    Prepare or present simple financial updates at board meetings (4–6 times per year).
    •    Issue and mail a small number of cheques each month.
    •    Ensure the Society’s insurance policies are current and appropriate.
    •    Work with the Chair and our accounting firm on the annual budget and financial reports.

Time Commitment
    •    1 - 3 hours per month
    •    Attendance at board meetings - 2nd Thursday evenings.

Skills & Experience
    •    Basic understanding of budgets and financial documents.
    •    Good organizational and communication skills.
    •    Prior non-profit or board experience is helpful but not required.
