🌿 Join Us as an Environmental Steward! 🌿
Love the outdoors? Passionate about protecting nature? The Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society is looking for enthusiastic individuals to help care for Revelstoke’s riparian zone along the Illecillewaet River and Columbia River valley. This is a hands-on, fun, and rewarding way to make a difference in your community and the environment!
About Us
We’re a small but passionate organization dedicated to conserving the natural riparian zone in the flats by our rivers. This beautiful area of woodlands and meadows provides a habitat for wildlife and a recreational haven for the community.
Our key goals include:
- Maintaining natural habitat for wildlife.
- Conserving natural resources.
- Promoting responsible and sustainable use of the area.
What You’ll Do as an Environmental Steward
This is an active and engaging role where you’ll contribute directly to the health of the river valley. Responsibilities include:
- Community Education: Share knowledge about conservation and the importance of riparian zones with visitors and users of our four-season trails.
- Trail Maintenance: Keep our trails safe and accessible for all users while ensuring the protection of vulnerable flora and fauna.
- Habitat Restoration: Support efforts to create or enhance environments for native species.
- Special Projects: Participate in seasonal initiatives, such as clean-up events or ecological surveys.
- Invasive Species Removal: Help restore natural habitats by identifying and removing invasive plants.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- A love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it.
- Willingness to get your hands dirty (literally!) in support of nature.
- Background in biology, environmental sciences, or related fields is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
What’s In It for You?
- Hands-on experience in conservation and environmental stewardship.
- The chance to connect with like-minded nature enthusiasts.
- The satisfaction of seeing your work directly impact the health of local ecosystems.
- A flexible time commitment that fits into your schedule.
